I remember Zappa Land outside Berner High. Three Streams woods and building a camp fire in a group of 20 or more. Jones Beach was beautiful with the walkways all in flowers.
Long Island was a beautiful place to grow up. For a long time I would get homesick. But now a trip to the beach with temp in the 80's while it was snowing up there would cure me. I know what I miss is a time, not really a place, but thank you for bringing back some of those memories.

Bill's reply: I think we all long for the past no matter where we live. I grew up in Massapequa too. Sometimes I drive past my old haunts and miss them as if I were a thousand miles away.
But traveling a thousand miles is easy compared to traveling back a decade or 2 or 3. There's no way to go back which is why it's important to savor every second of every day.
If you're happy living where you are now that's all that matters. I do curse the snow sometimes, but I love the beach in the winter.
