Beached at the Sandbar

If you haven't been to the Sand Bar in Ocean Beach yet, it's time to go. I was there for my first time two weeks ago and went to see ‘Lil Cliff and the Cliffhangers. This is the place to see them.

The atmosphere was very friendly, the food was outrageous and in speaking with John who was most outgoing and very personable, it made the afternoon most pleasant.

Kathy the bartender was also very friendly and the whole atmosphere makes you feel at ease and a great place to hang on a Sunday afternoon. Not to mention ‘Lil Cliff and the boys who play some of the best west coast style blues this side of the pacific.

You won't be able to sit still once they start playing (guaranteed). Not to mention they will be there for the rest of the summer. So as the sign says over the bar "Blues and Booze" you couldn't have a better combo. See you there.

The Sandbar used to be the Alligator. Owner John Guadagno bought it when it went up for sale in 2006 and did a complete renovation. There isn't a trace of the Alligator left.

I like the Sandbar for an afternoon beer before the music starts, because the music is LOUD there. As for 'Lil Cliff, they're great. Especially if you like harmonica.
